The VFIC is a consortium of 15 traditional private liberal arts colleges in Virginia. These remarkable institutions, educating over 22,000 under-graduates each year, provide small classes, low student-faculty ratios, personal attention to students, and a time-tested liberal arts experience -- important and distinctive options compared to large public universities.

These colleges are listed below, with the names serving as links to their collegiate websites. You may also wish to view our colleges' timeline, dating back to the 1700s, or check our map which shows the location of our 15 colleges around the Commonwealth.

VFIC Colleges and Universities include:

  • 3 of the 25 oldest colleges and universities in the United States
  • Phi Beta Kappa chapters at 9 VFIC institutions
  • All 15 colleges and universities accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
