Jaden Kuehner, an ROTC cadet at Washington and Lee University, spearheaded fundraising efforts to build the first Gold Star Memorial in Lexington, Virginia. The memorial, which pays tribute to two Rockbridge County natives who were killed in the line of duty with the U.S. Armed Forces, was dedicated on Sept. 24, 2023.
