Public Health Studies

Student Highlight

This past June, Molly received the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship award to study at the University College Cork in Ireland or the University of Chester in England during the spring of 2022. While abroad, she plans to complete prerequisites for physician assistant (PA) school while completing her undergraduate degree. Molly also hopes to shadow physicians in hospitals, surgeries and clinics, allowing her not only to complete required direct patient care experience for PA school but also providing her an opportunity to make comparisons between the health care systems in the United Kingdom and the United States. “I cannot wait to immerse myself in a different culture,” said Scheerer, whose minor is sociology. “I look forward to meeting new people from different backgrounds through study abroad to broaden my perspectives and social network.”
